Archuleta: I'm Afraid To Disuss Romance

Yahoo News is reporting that David Archuleta is upset. Apparently, our little David had a "romantic interest" during the American Idol 7 season, and apparently she received some interesting mail. Who knows how "they" got her address, but anyway. Apparently, Lil David's lil girlfriend got letters telling her that she was "not good enough" and "ugly". Yikes! Click the link to read the story.

Archuleta Hits The Radio With "Crush"

Our Lil Boo is growing up, y'all!

David Archuleta's first single from his forthcoming album, dropped last Friday. The song, "Crush" is meant to provide advanced airplay leading up to the Fall '08 release of his first album.

When I first saw that Lil David had released this song, I so didn't want to listen to it. Strange, I know, because I do love Lil Boo. . . . I was just very nervous and did not want to be disappointed as I have in the past . . .However, I was quite impressed . . . as was the reviewer at Entertainment Weekly. Lil David has a distinctive voice, and there is no doubt that you are hearing the same Archie as we did on American Idol 7 . . . but, they have hooked him into a song that sounds contemporary, has a catchy hook, and fits very much into today's teen radio scene. . . If this song gets airplay, it will be a hit. Check out the song by clicking on the play button.

Syesha Mercado Interview in OK! Magazine

American Idol 2nd Runner Up, Syesha Mercado is dishing to OK! Magazine. In the interview, La Mercado discusses her "personal style", who she was close to during the show, and how she feels about moving to California.

A fairly good article, and it's good to see Syesha getting some press . . . however, FOR ME, the interview came off sounding like she did on the Idol stage . . . very polished and rehearsed. What do y'all think?

David Archuleta in High School Musical 3?

Alright, y'all . .

This story is from about a month ago . . . it was the most recent story I could find. So, it appears that the Insider is reporting that the folks over at Disney have recognized the utter adorablility that exists in our little David. . . . and they're hankering for him to do a cameo in the much anticipated High School Musical 3. We all understand that this cameo could be a difficult endeavor to pull off . . . the Idol Machine does not like to let go of it's talent when it is on tour and, more importantly, under contract. However, rumor has it that all involved think that it will come to fruition.

Makes perfect sense because if there is one thing that Simon Lythgoe and Simon Cowell understand it is the value of a buck. . . . and, this move could be quite lucrative for the Idol Machine, as well as our Lil David. Click the link to read the whole story.

David Cook and Audrina Patridge?

Hola, my little Idol Tasters!

So, Hollywood gossip website "She Knows" is reporting that David Cook and Hills star Audrina Patridge were caught hanging out at a recent Hollywood glam fest. Our Cookie is reportedly dating former Idol Kimberly Caldwell . . . Hmmmm . . . is Cookie going Hollywood?

Anyway, kinda cool to see Cookie going so mainstream! Click the link the read the whole story

David Cook Is Courted by Hinder . . . And They'll Wait for the Voice of an Angel

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that American Idol 7 winner, David Cook, is going to be really busy for the next few months. He is starting the Idol Tour tonight, and hanging out in the studio trying to finish an album due by November . . . however, the band Hinder is willing to wait. They want to write and record with our Idol, Rocker Boo. They were in the audience at the Idol finale and are willing to wait as long as it takes to work with our Cookie. In other news, another member of Hinder seems to have the hots for former Idol and country queen, Ms. Carrie Underwood. The Idol Machine seems to be kicking out winners who contemporary artists have the hots for . . . Click the link to read the story

d

TV Guide is reporting that Ricky Minor and the band from American Idol are suing the Idol Machine. . . . Be careful boys, the MACHINE can be a very dangerous entity with which to screw. However, kinda sounds like they've gotta genuine beef. So, Ricky and co. say that they are owed residuals because the Idol Machine chooses to replace their live music with taped clips from other people when creating clip shows and airing American Idol Rewind. Hmmm, the Idol Machine trying to pinch a few pennies so their pockets can be fattened . . . I can't imagine. Click the link to read the story.

Brooke White Tries to Save the World!

Tv Guide is reporting that Brooke White is trying to put her no found fame to good use. Brooke is teaming up with the folks from Idol Gives Back in an attempt to inspire the youth of America to . . . . well, give back. She has helped start a program that encourages school children to use their summer vacations to raise money to help fight malaria.

Good for Brooke . . . I'm glad to see that the very giving and genuine persona that she put foth on Idol is actually . . . . well . . . genuine! Good for that Brooke. Here's hoping that her quest is successful and that some record label signs her quickly!

4000, yo!

In all of the hubub going on in all of our respective lives, we have neglected to note the 4000th hit on our little blog. So, in response to this milestone, I thought I would post two different youtube clips.

First, I thought I would post the one single performance on American Idol this season which represented "The Turn Around". This performance was the only one of the season, IMO, that was a Holy Shizz moment. A moment where you were like, wow, I was wrong, maybe you can sing . . .

May I present, Kristy Lee Cook singing "Anyway"

Next, I will post one of the better performances on Nashville Star this past week.

Let me present, Pearl Heart with "Wide Open Spaces"

Thanks for reading . . . .

U R Bootiful, No Matter What They Say

What a night! We have the results show bearing down on us like the bus Randy's been driving the last few weeks, so let's get to bidness...

First off, the ridiculous boxing theme. Nigel himself said on KISS this morning with Ryan that he'd had the final theme for some time, and didn't know what he'd do to make the "boxing match" shit work if Syesha made it to the Top Two. Good thing the fix was in, eh?
And, is ALW bored? WTF is he doing here? Anyway...

Round 1: Clive's corpse selects some golden oldies for the boys.

Cookie with U2, sang it well, but wasn't magical.

Archie sang Elton like his life depended on it. I still have a problem with this embryo singing adult angst songs, but whatev. All you have to do is watch how nerved out he was after singing it to know how much pressure is on this poor kid. To his credit, DA pulls out the mojo and wins the first round.

Round 2: Pick From The 10 Worst Songs Nigel Could Inflict.

Cookie actually made this craptacular song sound like something you could hear in the real world beyond Idol. That, given the "This Is My Now"s and "Do I Make You Proud"s we've endured in the past, was a fucking miracle.

Archie (as Simon put it) sang the "right" song, the Idol melisma-fied syrupy song. He did a good job, but it was so predictable, and thus kind of blah. Though the judges made it seem like Archie won, I'd say Cookie actually pulled off Round Two by not being boring as hell.

Round 3: You Can Go Your Own Way (But Watch Out, Bitches!)

Cookie pulls a WTF by singing this Collective Soul song. Why? He did make it listenable, something it never was for me in the past, but it flew in the face of Idol "in it to win it" tradition. Simon slaps him down for it, but I applauded Mr. C for not cranking out a retread. Maybe it was a symbolic stand.

Archie performs a clone of Imagine. The pixie dust wasn't there this time, but it was a great performance. I literally stood and clapped for him at the end because I was afraid he'd melt down. That kid is a trooper!

All in all, Lil David came into the finale guns blazing, and Big David showed up and performed well, but without the magic. The judges shoved Cook in front of the bus and revved the engine, then floored it. WHOMP!

So, looks like an Archuleta victory is sewn up, right?

L and I are going to defy the winds of Fate and say COOK WINS IT!

...based not so much on last night, because Lil Dave really brought it, but on the juggernaut of voting coming into last night that favored DC. Crazy like Paula? Maybe.

L & K: Cook will be Dreaming Big as the Season 7 winner tonight.

(P.S. - An Open Letter To Randy Jackson: STFU. If I hear any more "molten hot" "phone book" "peaked at the right time" etc. bullshit, I'm getting on a plane to L.A. and strangling your ass in the LaBrea tar pits.)
