David Cook Has A Message For His Fans

Just saw this on YouTube --

Looks like our Mr. Cook is trying to keep it real, and stay connected to the fans that catapulted him to Idol fame. Seems to me he is a humble guy who appreciates this enormous opportunity, and maybe we'll have another Idol who won't make us wish we could forget them in a year, like so many others. Looks like we can expect good things to come from David Cook...stay tuned!

The Billboard Charts: The Davids!

Billboard's latest charts were released today, and our Davids have hit the ground running. David Cook posts 6, yes 6, new entries on the Hot 100, and Lil David Archuleta posts one. Their positions on the Hot 100 are based solely on digital downloads. Impressive indeed. David Cook is charting with: #3 Time of My Life, #15 Dream Big, #22 I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, #28 The World I Know, #42 I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing, and # 47 Billie Jean . . . whew. David Archuleta hits the charts at #36 with Imagine. To see the entire chart, click the link!

Clay Aiken makes . . . a baby? Que?

Babble.Com is reporting that the Clay Aiken is involved in getting someone preggers . . . Now, let that sink in for just a brief moment . . . . And go . . . So, apparently he did not actually directly fertilize said egg, but provided his fertilizer for the carrier of said egg so that fertilization could ensue. I'm sure there will be more updates on this one soon.
What do y'all think of this interesting turn of events?

A VERY late review of the finale

As I said in the previous post, a vacay took me away before I could blog about the finale. Overall, I would have to rate this finale as one of if not THE best of the bunch. I was quite impressed with almost all of the numbers. . . I didn't even mind the Mike Myers movie pimpage . . . just seeing the look on Lil Boo's face when Myers' character said that soon he would get hair in interesting and wonderful places was worth the price of admission.

Probably the only number that I found to be less than stellar was the Syesha/Seal spectacular. I heart Seal and Syesha can definitely blow, but seriously, why the duet with no harmony? What was that? Otherwise, good stuff. I thought MY BROOKE and Graham Nash were spectacular . . . but nothing topped our top 2 . . . Cook and ZZ Top AND Lil David and One Republic were absolutely wonderful. Cook could and should be the lead singer of some over the top rock band pronto . . . AND Aruchuleta proved that he could be the lead singer . . . a better lead singer . . . for this very current Top 40 band. Overall, wonderful.

However, I think the performance of the night belonged to Carly Smithson and The Hotness. Their rendition of "The Letter" WAS ABSOLUTELY ON FREAKIN FIRE! They showed us why they were considered the two to beat very early on. I hope that record companies around the world were watching that performance and sign these two immediately.

The resluts: I picked Archuleta because I thought he was the better performer on the final night, and because I wanted to stay true to my early pick. However, my gut really believed that Cook would win. I don't know why . . . just did. And probably, for the first time, in those final moments, I didn't actually root too hard one way or the other . . . and, in the end, I cried. I cried when he won . . . I cried when he sang the DAMN SCHMALTZ IDOL SONG . . . I cried when he threw his arm around Lil David . . . I just boohooed. Good for David Cook. Good for American Idol. Good for A Little Taste of Idol.

Great season my fellow bloggers . . . But this is the very beginning . . . Idol news year round . . . Nashville Star . . . Idol Rewind . . . We're up and running, y'all! Great Work!

A Little Late Review by EW

I apologize for the late posting, but I went away on a wee little vacation to the Pensacola area right after the end of Idol! I know, I know, BAD BLOGGER, BAD, BAD, BLOGGER . . . However, a newly refreshed Josh is back and ready to go. So, our pals over at Entertainment Weekly posted a recap of the finale and the results . . . and all I have to say is "veal", "happy trail", and "meth" Funny, funny stuff, y'all. David delivers a knockout punch

So….it was a knockout punch but not the one the many of us expected. Congrats to David Cook….this years American Idol.

I was a little surprised, but not shocked. I believed that both were strong coming into the night….and I thought there was a real possibility that the judges comments could result in a surge for Cook….and complacency on Archuletta fans. However, Dialidol has been predicting Cook for several weeks now…and apparently he had a pretty strong base in the 30+ age group…..for me….it was like Ruben and Clay all over……I couldn’t vote for either because I liked them both. I was leaning towards Archuletta…but I am completely happy with Cook as well…..I think, however…..that like Ruben and Clay….both will do just fine.

Some quick thoughts:

Top 5 last night:

#5 – Jason Castro –Hallelujia (the title says it all)

#4 - Red Carpet appearance by the one….the only….SANJAYA! (That alone made my night….you would have missed it if you weren’t watching the Idol Tonight preshow….but there was also a shot of him in the audience in the show as well.

#3 – Brooke and Nash……great duet….it was perfect

#2 – Carly Smithson and Michael Johns duet…..watching them….it very easily could have been the two of them in the finale. They were both outstanding last night

#1 – David and David – two seemingly genuinely nice guys….its too bad that they both couldn’t win.

Honorable Mention – Reynaldo with the USC marching band….it could have been pulled off a little better….but it was still fun.

Bottom 5:

#5 – How Old most of the performers looked – exactly what has been wrong with the show this season…..it needs to beef up the hip factor….seriously…..does anyone really even know who Bryan Adams is…let alone care who he is…..and he looked horrible………George Michael……looked horrible……..Donna Summer…..kinda looked horrible…..

#4 – Blatant film tie ins – The love Guru……boring…….and stupid……If I had no interest in seeing the movie BEFORE this shameless tripe….I DEFINITELY have no interest now. Lil David looked incredibly uncomfortable with the line :soon you will be growing hair in all kinds of strange places……it made me uncomfortable…..

#3 – Syesha and Seal…..sounded like they had never rehearsed the song….and it pretty much looked that way as well.

#2 – Jordin Sparks dress-….c’mon girlfriend….whoever told you to wear that thing….is no friend of yours…..contrasted with Carrie Underwear…..Jordin has a long long way to go.

#1 – As usual….the pathetically bad idol winner song. Both of the songs the night before was better than the crap that Cook had to sing when he won…..still not as bad as “this is my now”…or “do I make you proud”….but nevertheless…..Cook doing this song…sounded about the same as Bo did when he had to perform the obviously written for Carrie Underwood “I wanna be inside your heaven”….I think Cook doing “Dream Big” would have been a much stronger ending.

So…..the end of another year. As I said….I wasn’t so much surprised by the Cook win….as I was by the margin of victory. Cook pretty much won by a landslide….I don’t think anyone would have predicted that…..I’m anxious to hear their CD’s when they come out…. (I’m STILL waiting for Melindas….and Sanjayas)…..so we will see……

Thank you all for humoring me in my thoughts!,,,,

Rubbertoe ….OUT!

Miss Allison picks...

Archuletta to win tonight, Cook to win for the rest of his career.

Little David is going to be the Idol, but long term Cook will have the most commercial success. Miss Allison was tangled up in court all day.

U R Bootiful, No Matter What They Say

What a night! We have the results show bearing down on us like the bus Randy's been driving the last few weeks, so let's get to bidness...

First off, the ridiculous boxing theme. Nigel himself said on KISS this morning with Ryan that he'd had the final theme for some time, and didn't know what he'd do to make the "boxing match" shit work if Syesha made it to the Top Two. Good thing the fix was in, eh?
And, is ALW bored? WTF is he doing here? Anyway...

Round 1: Clive's corpse selects some golden oldies for the boys.

Cookie with U2, sang it well, but wasn't magical.

Archie sang Elton like his life depended on it. I still have a problem with this embryo singing adult angst songs, but whatev. All you have to do is watch how nerved out he was after singing it to know how much pressure is on this poor kid. To his credit, DA pulls out the mojo and wins the first round.

Round 2: Pick From The 10 Worst Songs Nigel Could Inflict.

Cookie actually made this craptacular song sound like something you could hear in the real world beyond Idol. That, given the "This Is My Now"s and "Do I Make You Proud"s we've endured in the past, was a fucking miracle.

Archie (as Simon put it) sang the "right" song, the Idol melisma-fied syrupy song. He did a good job, but it was so predictable, and thus kind of blah. Though the judges made it seem like Archie won, I'd say Cookie actually pulled off Round Two by not being boring as hell.

Round 3: You Can Go Your Own Way (But Watch Out, Bitches!)

Cookie pulls a WTF by singing this Collective Soul song. Why? He did make it listenable, something it never was for me in the past, but it flew in the face of Idol "in it to win it" tradition. Simon slaps him down for it, but I applauded Mr. C for not cranking out a retread. Maybe it was a symbolic stand.

Archie performs a clone of Imagine. The pixie dust wasn't there this time, but it was a great performance. I literally stood and clapped for him at the end because I was afraid he'd melt down. That kid is a trooper!

All in all, Lil David came into the finale guns blazing, and Big David showed up and performed well, but without the magic. The judges shoved Cook in front of the bus and revved the engine, then floored it. WHOMP!

So, looks like an Archuleta victory is sewn up, right?

L and I are going to defy the winds of Fate and say COOK WINS IT!

...based not so much on last night, because Lil Dave really brought it, but on the juggernaut of voting coming into last night that favored DC. Crazy like Paula? Maybe.

L & K: Cook will be Dreaming Big as the Season 7 winner tonight.

(P.S. - An Open Letter To Randy Jackson: STFU. If I hear any more "molten hot" "phone book" "peaked at the right time" etc. bullshit, I'm getting on a plane to L.A. and strangling your ass in the LaBrea tar pits.)

Season 7 Results Spectacular Spoilers!

Click on the link above if you want some gossip about who's going to show up tonight to blow our frickin' minds on Results night!

Here's Jorbacca crying under the fire safety violation last season. Randy must have been having a PTSD flashback to this when he said it was "2007" last night.

Clustermap link

Hey....I just found the "clustermap" link...I'd never noticed it before. Wow.....it makes me wanna pat ourselves on the back to know that we have had visitors from all over the world....including Asia, South America...Australia...Europe.....

For the first time in my adult life, I am truly proud of our little idol site!!!

Little Boo v Boo Hoo

Going in to last night I was just knew Boo Hoo was going to when the night and IDOL based on his performance abilities and his natural charisma but a different Boo Hoo showed up! I think little Boo won every round and he can PERFORM, who knew! Little Boo peaked at the right time and Boo Hoo seem to be way off last night. I wonder if Boo Hoo might have wanted the number 2 spot so he could have more control over his career (just a thought). Little boo should win but you never know when it comes to an idol final! Thanks to everyone for visiting our blog and stay tuned we are not going away!!!!!!!!!!!!
TTown idol fan OUT!!

The Coronation of "The Chosen One"

Tonight it all comes to fruition…..what we have pretty much all expected from the beginning of this season…the coronation of David Archuletta – the “Chosen One” as the next American Idol.

Last nights show was outstanding. One of the best finals that I have seen…ranking right up there with Ruben/Clay. Before I get to the performances I just wanted to say that the ending of last nights show represented everything I love about AI…..Who could not love….Ruben singing this years Idol goodbye song (although not up to par with Daughtrey’s “Home)….and the retrospect of this year in review….. This was a great year…… from Josiah Lemming…..KLC selling her horse to go to Idol……to “You are my brother” (Reynaldo)……

To the show:

I didn’t really like the Cheesy Boxing analogies….it was even a little too corny for me…but I understand the David V. David…showdown concept.

Round 1: David Archuletta by a landslide

David had a total Idol Moment….”Don’t let the sun go down on me”…ranks up there with “Summertime” – Fantasia, “Solotaire” –Clay Aiken, You give love a bad name –Blake Lewis…as a defining Idol moment. David Came out and demonstrated that he really wants to win this thing. Score: 10+

David Cook: “Still haven’t found what I’m looking for”….left me cold. It wasn’t horrible….but it just wasn’t all that great….He’s shown in past performances that he can really make a song work….he just didn’t do much with this one. Score: 7

Round 2:

I actually saw this one different than the judges. I didn’t realize that these were the songwriter songs….(no wonder I didn’t recognize either song)….I thought David Cook won this round…..not by a landslide….but I thought his song was the better of the two (although they were both 200X better than last years “This is my now” which had to be the worst idol song ever --- right up there with “Do I make you proud”)….Cook sounded great….and the song seemed written for him and his style. Score: 9

David – Song was sung well….but it didn’t do much for me and the cheesy lyrics were exactly as Simon said…..a bit arrogant. I sensed that Lil David was trying to created an “Idol moment” here….and maybe tonight….with the choir and dropping balloons and confetti…it will work….we’ll see. Score: 8

Round 3:

David Cook – to me…this performance epitomized the night for him….completely wrong song choice (although I agreed with him that the show is about progression and he didn’t want to sing something he already had….I personally hate when the performers do something we have already seen….especially in this youtube day and age when you can watch it anytime). But during his performance I got the impression that he didn’t really want to win….and I agree its probably better for him NOT to win…ala “Daughtrey”….but when you saw his reaction….I don’t think that is the case….I think he would like to win….but I loved his display of emotion…to me it was a combination of incredible joy to be performing in front of 7000 people….to pure exhaustion at the end of the journey….to frustration that the judges had praised Lil David all night and he knew it was over for him. Simon gave him the incredible compliment that he is probably the nicest and most genuine contestant ever on AI….somehow…I suspect that THAT is entirely true. Cook will have a great career. Score: 7

Lil David – Imagine. No where near as good as the first time he did this song….maybe it is because of what I mentioned before…the repetition factor…..it seemed a little forced…but the vocal was still fantastic. Score: 8

Final Rubbertoe Tallies: David Cook: 23

David Archuletta: 26

Lil David…..this years American Idol…..

Boo on Boo Finale: Ranking the Performances

So, another Idol Performance Finale has come and gone . . . I feel a bit like a child on Christmas Eve, looking forward to tomorrow, but also kind of dreading it at the same time . . . knowing the let down I will experience . . .

Anyway, here goes with my rankings . . .

1. Lil David - Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me - For me, perhaps the best performance of the entire season. I say this because Lil David's soaring vocals were FINALLY joined by a performance worthy of being noticed. For whatever reason this boy FELT this song and it's lyrics.

(Space)

2. Rocker David - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - Rocker David tackled this song and just SOLD IT. I thought his vocals were on target in a way that I haven't heard in a while, and the performance was spot on. Just wonderful.

(Space)

3. Lil David - Imagine - Not quite as good as the first time he performed it . . . I liked the earlier arrangement better . . . but, I think his vocals and his selling of the performance were very much on target. Very, very good.

4. Rocker David - The World I Know - Strange choice of song for me . . . I like the song . . . and I liked Cookie's performance . . . I just think he could have made a better moment out of it than he did . . . The vocals seemed to be a bit lacking . . . interestingly, the replay at the end, showed Cookie singing a much more MOMENT worthy version of the song . . .

5. Lil David - Idol theme song - This song sounded like that winning Idol moment, balloons dropping, choir singing, fireworks going off type of song . . . schmaltzy, sugar sweet, but sung very, very well.

6. Rocker David - Idol theme song - Overall, I think once Rocker David gets in the studio, the song can be VERY marketable . . . the performance tonight was good . . . but not great. His performance on the chorus' was stellar . . . the verses were just a half step too low for him and produced a wee bit of muttering sounds . . . ish . . . esque . . .

Overall, a great night for both guys. I think it was the very best finale from start to finish since Rueben and Clay in Season 2. Simply wonderful . . . I don't know who is going to win this thing tomorrow, but I do believe that Lil Boo won the night kinda hardcore . . .

However, I must make a prediction . . . and I may lose the Friendly Little Competition on this one, but I must go with who I think should win . . . and I very much believe that David Archuleta should win this competition. He freakin blew the Nokia roof off tonight.

Lil David Imagines . . . Possibly Winning . . .

Lil David is about to sing “Imagine” . . .

He’s reworked it a bit . . . the boy is in good voice tonight . . . very, very good voice tonight . . . stunning the first time and very good the second time . . . Cookie gets points for doing a different song, but Lil David gets points for being the better vocal . . . Liked the first arrangement of "Imagine" better, but still a good performance.

Randy thinks that Lil David is in it to win it . . . Paula thinks he is a shining star . . . and Simon thinks they’ve had a memorable finale, but that Lil David came out to win this competition and delivered a knock out.

And here comes Rueben? Huh? Singing this horrible going home song . . . . he actually sounds quite good, but no, no, no . . . . This song drives me nuts since they took the other alt-pop song away . . . Allison will know the title.

Overall, I would say that Lil David won rounds 1 and 3 and round 2 was a draw . . . . Round 1 was very much the best round from both performers of the night. . . . in that round David Cook was masterful and David Archuletta was the master. I don’t know who will win, but, based on tonight, in my opinion, Lil David deserves to be crowned the winner.

I think tomorrow night will be interesting . . .

Is it Rocker David's World?

Here we go with Round 3: Contestant’s Choice . . . .

Rocker David is up first and singing “The World I Know” by Collective Soul and Lil David is singing “Imagine” by John Lennon . . .

Here comes David Cook . . . .good song . . . he looks good and is doing a good job. I genuinely like this song . . . and I genuinely like his performance . . . vocals are solid and performance is solid . . . I just . . . I kind of wanted a break out moment . . . and, I didn’t quite feel it. . . . Don’t get me wrong, I think this is his best vocal of the night, and I kind of understand why he chose to perform it the way he did . . . but, I worry that it’s not going to stand out enough.

Randy thinks that he loved the way he sang it, Paula thought he was standing there in his truth, and Simon thinks that Rocker David is one of the nicest most genuine performers they’ve ever had, but that he chose the wrong song . . .

Round Two: Lil David Tries to Have a Moment . . . With Cheese

Lil David is up next . . . again, I didn't quite hear the title of the song . . . something about a "moment" . . . imagine that . . .

Here he goes . . . a wise song choice for Lil David . . . while Simon said that Rocker David's song didn't sound like a "winning" song, this song sounds like an Idol winning song . . . certainly doesn't make it better, but it sounds like one of those songs. Overall, Lil David continues to be in good voice . . . very good voice . . . somehow, I can see him singing this song tomorrow night while a choir sings . . . and fireworks explode . . . and stuff . . .

Randy didn't like the song but thought Lil David sounded good . . . Paula thought it was good . . . I think . . . hard to tell . . . Simon thought it was a better choice of song and declared Round 2 for Lil David.

I think I would call Round 2 a draw. Kind of back to the norm for those two . . . Rocker David with the better performance and Lil David with the better vocal.

Round Two: Cookie takes on Idol Cheese

Second Round is strangely the Idol Theme Song . . . This year, they get to pick one of the Top 10 finalists for the songwriting contestants . . . I didn’t quite hear the titles of the songs they are singing.

Here comes Rocker Boo . . . kind of mumbling in his lower register . . . but it picks up massively on the verse . . . and back down in the lower register . . . and back up to being stellar at the end.
Overall, solid perofrmance AND good vocals.

Randy thinks the song was just ok, but the vocals were HOT . . . Paula said something that I can’t quite decipher, but was quite positive and uplifting . . . I think . . . Simon thought it didn’t sound like a winning song.

The problem with these Idol songs is always the same . . . The judges never like them, and their critiques almost always come out sounding like attacks on the contestants instead of on the song.

I think Cookie did a good job with the song, and it sounds radio friendly. He just needs to bring up his lower register a half step, but otherwise, good job.

Lil David Won't Let The Sun Go Down on Him!

Here comes Lil Archie . . . I got to say, I'm pretty amped about this one, as well. I think this is a good choice by Sir Clive.

I don’t quite know what to say . . . . At the beginning of the performance, when he was sitting on the stairs, I was a little worried . . . but then . . . HE PERFORMED! HE PERFORMED! Where has this been all season!!! Vocals were spot on and MY LORD, HE PERFORMED!!!! I'm stunned and thrilled . . . this makes me think that Lil David could actually sell some records

Randy thought it was a molten hot performance . . . Paula has chills . . . and Simon thought it was the best performance for Lil Boo . . . Simon says: All in all, round one goes to Lil Boo

I gots to agree . . . I didn't think that it would get better than Rocker David, but Lil David brought his vocals AND his performance . . . For me, Round 1 to Lil David.

Rocker David Still Hasn't Found What He's Lookin For

Here comes Cookie . . . singin a little U2 . . . I'm pretty amped about this one . . .

Sounds really good so far . . . not over singing . . . sounds REALLY FREAKIN GOOD . . . and he used the stage in the audience. Excellent, Excellent, Excellent! Performance and vocals were very, very solid. He looked like a rock star, and sounded very, very good. I’m impressed.

Randy thought it was hot, but didn’t do all he could (he has a bit of a woodie for Archuletta) . . . Paula thinks Cookie has arrived, and Simon thought that he was tense and nervous to start, but that all in all . . . it was phenomenal.

Excellent start to the night!

A Boo on Boo Finale: Here we go!

Boxer Boos! This is very cute. I’m kind of hearting them in their boxing clothes . . . Lil Boo weighs in at 100 lbs . . . soaking wet.

Big David and Lil David are singing three songs each . . . three numbers each . . . and four hours to vote . . .

Man, they are playin this shizz up . . . . Lil David has some peac fuzz, yo . . . and Big David has some hella facial hair . . .

Here comes Clive Davis and Andrew Lloyd Weber to “guide” our Idols . . . and . . . Here come the boys . . .

The essence of cocky versus the essence of awwww shucks, maam . . .

They both say how like totally awesome and stuff each other is . . .

Side note: I’m not thrilled with either of their outfits . . . kind of ill fitting . . .
Here comes Clive . . . Rocker David will be singing U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” and Lil David will be singing “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”

Behind-the-scenes dirt from Archuleta's voice coach!

Click on the title above for an interesting video from MyFox Utah last week, where David Archuleta's voice coach Dean Kaelin says there are some "weird games being played" with regards to song choice, position, and arrangement on the Final Three show.

Seems that Lil David wanted to do a song that went to Cook, and Archuleta's best song was shifted to first instead of last, unlike Cook. Also, Syesha wanted to have strings and was told she couldn't - but on the same show Cook had strings! Shenanigans? Kind of makes you wonder what to look out for tonight, to see if TPTB will tip their hand as to who they want to wear the Idol crown.

Mimi and Cookie!

Well, it looks like Mimi will be on the Idol finale on Wednesday to try and emancipate our Cookie! Idol Blog Live is spoiling that Ms. Mimi and Cookie will be singing a duet that night. In addition, Carrie Underwood WILL be coming on to perform her single, "Last Name". Finally, there will be some "dead" duets during the telecast. Think Celine Dion and Elvis Presley from last year's inaugural episode of Idol Gives Back. Should be interesting. Please oh please do not let them put Lil Boo with an image of John Lennon . . . I'd kind of hope that Chris Brown comes on and refers to Lil David as his Lil Shawty!

Friendly Little Competition: A Massive Update**

Ok, so, it's been a hot minute since we've updated the scores for the Friendly Little Competition . . . there's a reason . . . we had a bit of a Taste of Idol controversy . . . So, in the week of the Top 5, L, K, J, and TtownIdolFan provided a Bottom 2 prediction and Allison and Rubbertoe provided a Bottom 3 . . . with the discrepancy, the scores shifted a bit . . . So, L & K both provided a suggestion . . . kind of cracks me up, so, I thought we would do it. The scores will be provided in two lists . . . one with a * to denote the inclusion of the "Bottom 3" in the Top 5 and one that will not include all three of their picks . . . So, much like for Roger Maris breaking Babe Ruth's homerun record (*61) OR in college football when both LSU and USC were declared national champions three years ago, we could have two winners! Did I amp the dramz level enough . . . Tee Hee . . . Here we go

Name Top 5 Top 4 Top 3

It's a close race to the finish here at a Little Taste of Idol!

The Boos Battle it Out: EW's Perspective

Simon Cowell Discusses Fantasia with Ellen

Perez Hilton has posted a clip of Simon Cowell's recent interview with Ellen Degeneres. No, no, he was not announcing that he and La Seacrest will make it a double wedding with Ellen and Portia, he was talking about Fantasia's . . . er, interesting performance on last week's results show. Boo on Boo Finale: A Spoiler Update

So, DJ Slim over at Idol Blog Live is spoiling that David Cook has chosen to sing U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"

Also, it has been spoiled that both contestants will be allowed to choose any song from the Top 10 songwriter's Idol song selections . . . Smart move, I think, from the Idol Machine to let them have this many choices.

I can't wait for tomorrow, yo!

More Spoilers from the Boo vs. Boo Idol Death Match

An updated spoiler from the earlier spoiler . . . Idol Blog Live reported the information from the earlier post . . . however, TV Guide is now reporting that the David's will indeed be singing one repeat performance and one Clive Davis pick, but THEY WILL NOT BE SINGING THE IDOL THEME SONG . . . They are reporting that they will be singing some song from an online poll of top ten songs . . . where is this poll? why have we not seen it? WTF?

A Brief Article on the Finalists David!

USA Today has written an article on the Two Davids. The article briefly allows the Davids to express how they feel about being in the final, and what they thought was going to happen in the Top 3. Click the link to read the story.

A Few Morsels of the Rich Tasty Goodness that is the American Idol Finale!

Ugh! I got to the bottom of this post and hit the FRACKING escape key, and have had to start over . . . UGH!

And go . . . DJ Slim over at Idol Blog Live continues to spoil all of the juicy tidbits . . . Here are a few morsels pertaining to the Idol Finale Results Show!

* Paula will debut a new song from her upcoming album - Er . . . Um . . . live, seriously, I'm just not sure . . . I mean, I have this image stuck in my head of Paula and her back up dancers partially blinding me one year during the MTV Video Music Awards with their interpretation of her song, "Vibeology" . . . Anyone remember that . . . . Anyhoo, I suppose she could lipsync or sing with a track as it has been rumored that Jordin Sparks and Leona Lewis did . . . seriously yo, maybe I'm mistaken, but did I miss the lesson in school about how to make your voice sound like its echoing . . .

* Top 12 will perform as a group with Paula - Could assist in the aforementioned "live" performance and lead me to only jab one of my eyes out with a hot poker.

* The SYTYCD Dancers will perform on Wednesday - Very curious about this one . . . A few of my friends watch this show and absolutely HEART it!

* Each of the Top 5 will duet with a celebrity - I have one request of TPTB, please keep Meat Loaf away from our Idols . . . I still have about half of a toothpick remaining in my right ear from the debacle that was The Loaf and The McPheever . . . I mean, can y'all imagine The Loaf with Lil Boo or Brooke . . . All I can envision is both of them on stage with The Loaf, doing their best to get through the performance, but all the while sporting a look, that if translated, would read something like this . . . "For the love of La Seacrest, please don't let this big scary man get anywhere near me . . . feets don't fail me now!!"

* 2 previous Idols from each of the past seasons will perform - Now, this one could be very fun . . . depending on who they get . . .

My requests:

Season 1: Tamyra Gray and RJ Helton (CutieMcPretty)
Season 2: Trenyce and KLo
Season 3: LATOYA LONDON . . . that is all
Season 4: Vonzelle and AFed (I heart him)
Season 5: Bucky (singing Fat Bottomed Girls!) and Elliot - Vote Like YAMIN it!
Season 6: Blake and Chris Richardson (for very selfish reasons) . . . I'm a Blaker Boy!

* The Jonas Brothers will perform - I knew they'd sneak them in some how.

What do y'all think of the makings of the Idol extravaganza?

American Idol Finale: Boo on Boo Spoilers!

DJ Slim over at Idol Blog Live has started to spill some spoilers about the finale. Another post will follow about the results show. However, it looks like there's been a wee bit of a change for the Tuesday night performance show . . . The contestants will only get one choice of song . . .the second belongs to one Mr. Clive Davis . . . And then of course, the idol schmaltzy song to conclude.

Only Lil Boo songs have spoiled . . .

1. Contestants choice (reprise) "Imagine"
2. Clive Davis' choice "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me

Yay, one for two baby! Ok, La Davis has not always provided the best song choices for our Idol finalists, but I gots to say, this choice should be right up Lil Boo's alley. Clear clean voice singing a clear clean song. Could prove moment worthy for Lil Boo . . .

Also, we now know who one the coin toss . . . THAT WAS COMPLETELY LEFT OFF OF THE TOP 3 RESULTS SHOW . . . bitter, party of one, my table is ready . . . anyhoo . . .
the following is the performance order.

1. Rocker Boo
2. Lil Boo

Lil David won the coin toss and elected to go second . . . duh . . . I don't think either of these two would pull the idiotic, albeit chivalrous, move of winning the coin toss and allowing the other person to choose. Also, I must correct myself . . . all Idols who have performed first have lost except Rueben Studdard. . .

More spoilers to come!

A Little Taste of . . . Birthday!

All of us here at A Little Taste of Idol would love to give a birthday shout out to our co-blogger, Allison. Allison turns . . . oh come on, y'all . . . I'd never reveal her actual age . . . Here's hoping you have a day that rocks your face off! Happy Birthday, Boo!

A Boo on Boo Finale!

Well, y'all, we have arrived at another American Idol finale! A Boo on Boo Idol fight is looming on the horizon. The finale will feature one performance from their Idol experience, one performance of their own choosing, and the schmaltzy Idol song.

I would like for all of us at A Little Taste of Idol to predict what we think/wish Lil Boo and Rocker Boo will sing for the upcoming extravaganza. I will begin the process.

Round 1 - Past Performance

1 Rocker Boo - "Hello" from the Top 24 rounds - To me, this performance was his breakout moment. In addition, I think it has been long enough that the performance is not fresh in the audience's mind.

2. Lil Boo - "Imagine" from the Top 24 rounds - Ditto the above reasoning.

Round 2 - Contestant's Choice - I am going to predict based on them choosing a new song. Please, please, boos, please choose a new song!

1. Rocker David - "I'm Only Happy When It Rains" Garbage OR "Smooth" Carlos Santana feat. Rob Thoomas. I think either of these songs would provide Rocker Boo with such a good vehicle for his talents. The thought of Rocker Boo singing "Smooth" kind of provides me with the foundation for impure thoughts . . . You remember that video and how Hella Hot Rob Thomas was . . . . ok, I'm back . . .

2. Lil David - "One Voice" Elton John OR "You're Still You" Josh Groban OR "When You Look Me In The Eyes" Jonas Brothers. Perhaps it is a mistake to suggest Lil Boo perform a song that Kelly Clarkson knocked out of the part on the Idol 2 finale results show, however, he has that purity of voice that could really make this a moment. The Josh Groban song was a necessary selection as I believe the comparisons are many between these two. However, what I would really like to see Lil Boo sing is the Jonas Brothers song. It's a power ballad and would be sund SO much better by Lil Boo than the nasal interpretation of the Pubescent Trio.

So, what do y'all think?

Give me your tired, your poor, your Idol Predictions!!!

Caption This!

Top 3: The Results . . . Will America FINALLY get it right?

Will it be the most dramatic Top 3 ever . . . My early guess is, er, um, no . . . but, we will see. THIS is AMERican Idol!

And here come the Idol's singing "Ain't No Stoppin Us Now" . . . um, when do we get new millenium night . . . anyhoo, how much do you want to bed that Rocker David's friends are making SUCH fun of him right now. Playing drinking games . . . take a shot everytime he has to act dorky on camera . . . and . . . their drunk.

So, our Idols are once again back stage . . . Again, I say, I want the people on the couch prior to elimination . . . not one of the good changes, Idol!!

Let's bring up Lil David . . . OH! I NEED YA BOO! . . . sorry . . . and, we're going back to Lil David's hometown . . . Look, the cheerleaders are attacking him . . . and, he looks strangely freaked out . . . and we're at a Lil David event . . .and my boo is crying . . . I'm making an official Little Taste of Idol change . . . I am now officially referring to Lil David as Lil Boo!!! I'm hearting him at home.

Next up is Ms. Syesha . . . She's goin home and hangin with her peeps. Lots of crying for Ms. Syesha, but strangely does not inspire me to give her the boo label . . . I like her, and think she will be hittin up broadway hardcore . . . but, I have hard time believing her when she speaks, cries, etc.

Finally, Rocker David is up and so is his bro. A non-idol aside . . . I'm showing my inner dork here, but I think Cookies brother is soooooooooooooo geek sheik cute! Tee Hee . . . anyway, we're going back home with the Cooks. Um, now Rocker David is crying . . . and I'm gonna now officially start calling him Rocker Boo . . . I'm hearting him back home with his bro. Maybe Rocker Boo will sing at Bro Boo and my ceremony . . . er, um . . . Idol . . .yes, Idol . . .

And now, it's time for the results. 56 million votes, bitches! Let me just say before they announce the results. I SO WANT A BOO ON BOO FINALE! We've been waiting for the right 2 to be in the finale since Season 2!

After the nationwide vote, the first person to make the finals is . . . LIL BOO! YAY! OH, I NEED YA BOO! That leaves Rocker Boo and Ms. Mercado for the final spot . . . The second person in the finals is . . . ROCKER BOO! YAY! A BOO ON BOO FINALE, YO! HOLLA!

I must say, Ms. Syesha looks like she knew she was going home, and handles the moment with grace and class. I'm impressed. But, I'm MORE impressed that we FINALLY have the correct finale! And, I'll have to check, but I think that all of us bloggers picked this finale!

I am so excited, but damn it, I wanted to see the coin toss! In all of Idol history, only the person who has gone second has won the title! And, in another little bit of Idol trivia, this is the first American Idol finale that features two individuals who have never been to the bottom two or three. Every other finale had at least one contestant who had been in danger of elimination at least once. A little Idol history . . . I'm sure we will spend the next week prognosticating on what will happen in the finale!

Holla!

ídolos del último tres

- not really, but they're all we've got.

The quick rundown on last night:
We have to totally agree with Allison, and isn't it cool she got to hear the show on the radio? We should all do that next year, as we probably get hypnotized by Ryan's shiny suits and the pretty lights.
1st round, Cook by a hair (one of his 11-12)
2nd round, nobody, holy crap it was all just meh.
3rd round, Cook; but you have to give Archuleta props for breathing life into one of the many antediluvian songs of the night. As many of you have said, WTF on the ancient songs? - and were the producers sniffing bus fumes when they picked -their- songs?
Maybe they can have an all-CGI Idol next year where the "contestants" can continually sing the catalog of Gordon Lightfoot.

Double D's in the finale, and we aren't talking about Syesha's real talents. Cookie and Archie will be singing to Syesha, as she watches them in the finale from the cheap seats.

L & K: David and David survive, Syesha goes home. If there is a B2, then K: Archie/Screamesha, L: Cookie/Syesha

I've Never Been Higher

Wow, Jason never smoked a joint?

That must be some delicious tobacco he's smoking there.

The Cuteness says, "I've Never Been High"

DJ Slim over at IdolBlogLive is reporting an interview from OK Magazine with The Cuteness. In the interview, they ask JC about his alcohol and drug usage. He states that he didn't drink alcohol until about a year ago and that HE HAS NEVER BEEN HIGH . . . Hmmmm . . . I just don't know what to say . . . that must be some pretty strong hooka he's got.

Top 3: What Decade Is This?

Here are my rankings of the performances of the Top 3 . . . such as they were.

1. Lil David - "So It Goes" - The acapella first half of the song goes a long way for me. Probably the best VOCAL of the night.

2. Rocker David - "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" - The first half of the song was quite nice . . . the second half not quite as good for me . . . see TtownIdol's reference to screaming. . .

(GAP - read: none of the other performances registered on my relevance meter)

3. Syesha - "If I Ain't Got You" - Her best vocal of the night . . . just kind of waiting for the first half of the song to be done so she could get to the belting part of the song . . .

4. Rocker David - "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" - I prefaced a previous entry with the notion that this is one of my all time favorites . . .and I didn't love his interpretation, but . . . he did the best with it he could.

5. Lil David - "With You" - Simply because he stayed in vocal range and I got to hear him say the word "boo"

6. Syesha - "Fever" - That chair . . . ugh . . . were those sequins on her dress or little bits of feta cheese?

7. Lil David - "Longer" - Again, as per usual, he was in vocal range and sounded good, but this song is so dreadful and he just hasn't had the life experience to pull it off.

8. Syesha - Penguin Song - Couldn't remember the title . . . not good . . . not good . . . not good . . . but, for me not as bad as . . .

9. Rocker David - "Dare You to Move" - Yikes, there were some bum notes in this performance that I just couldn't deal with . . . I'm sure on the isle of unpopular opinion here, but I just thought it was a great big mess.

For me, Lil David won the night by the smallest of margins . . . However, the larger deal is that Syesha needed to have a MOMENT or two and have the boys really be subpar . . . Didn't happen.

Prediction: Syesha has wrung the last bit of luck out of her Idol washrag.

What the F--K?

I agree with my Brother Rubbertoe, last night was the worst final three ever!
David A.-Solid night but he is not hip nor hop!
David C.- I agree with J on Mr. Cook, perhaps our TV was set on scream! But he does know how to entertain!
Syesha-Good night but not good enough to over come the Davids! She will be the new toast of Broadway!
I don't think she should go home based on last night but I think this is her night to go home based on the whole contest!
AMERICA HAS SPOKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worst top 3 show EVER!

So I figured today I would just get right to the point. Last night was the worst top 3 show ever! I didn’t find any of the performances worthy of praise. A couple of quick thought before I get to my analysis. The main problem I had with last nights show is the same problem that I have had with the show this season: It was too “old” and too “clichéd”. Seriously….this is supposed to be a show about picking the next “American Idol”…it should be a little more edgy….a little more hip…..seriously….a bit more this century. When the songs picked come from Roberta Flack…Dan Fogelberg….Billy Joel….c’mon….all great artists, but not the pop idols of today. As I said a couple of weeks ago on our idol blog (www.alittletasteofidol.blogspot.com) what should we expect next year…..Engelbert Humperdink night?

Ok….I’m off my rant…lets get to the show:

Lil David: First song – And so it goes- Billy Joel. God you know I love Billy Joel…and with all the songs to choose from they choose one that is really understated and doesn’t really do David any justice. (Maybe the conspiracy theories are correct that they tried to sabotage him this week). I thought he did it well….not great….but ok – (6)

Second song – I have to give him props for trying to do something a little more relevant and hip….it didn’t really work for him – (4)

Third song – Dan Fogelberg – Pretty song…..sung pretty…..but lacking the David touches…..I heard it in one vanishing second…but overall not up to par (5)

Syesha: Randy picks the Diva ballad. It was fine, but showed that she can’t compete with the true Diva’s…at least not yet (5)

Second song: Fever. Dated….bland……totally Cabaret….complete with the chair (I almost expected a Mein Heir recreation).(4)

Third song: As Simon said….forgettable. Did herself no favor by not choosing something to really showcase her talent. (4)

On the up side….she looked fabulous…they have done an incredible job creating her image and she was the best “performer” of the night. Sadly…her vocals were not up to her performance.

David Cook: First song: If ever I saw your face. Beautiful song and something that I really had hoped that David would do something unique with. Instead…as Simon said….he gave us a boring, forgettable standard kareokoe version of the song. I expected so much more (5)

Second song: Didn’t know the song. Found it to be kinda boring…and his vocals were not up to his norm (5)

Third song: Best performance of a very weak night. He hit a couple of real clunker notes…especially the second to last note…AY!....but this is the kind of song that David should sing….he was in his element…albeit…not where he was three weeks ago (7)

Final Rubbertoe tallies:

Lil David : 15 points (average: 5)

Syesha: 13 points ( average: 4.3)

David Cook: 17 points ( average: 5.7)

Long live King David(s)

So ... umm ... I guess I watched a different Idol top 3 than my dear friend, Josh.

I absolutely agreed with Simon -- David Cook EASILY won the night. Not even really close in my opinion. David C. won rounds 1 and 3 and Round two was a draw.

I will note that our Fox affiliate also simulcasts on 87.7 FM radio here and I listened to the performances over the radio first while I was driving back from Birmingham and then watched later. So by the time I watched, I had some opinions already.

David Cook showed America (Hi Shep!) that he can sing and rock out and have fun and look like he is supposed to be doing all of those things. I thought Simon's choice was crazy difficult, but David stepped up. I liked his sound on the radio and I think that he will get plenty of airplay on mainstream radio. I love the Switchfoot song generally and although I agree that the vocals were not superb, I can give David C. some forgiveness because he looked and sounded like a rock star. I absolutely hate the last song as a general premise (Thank you Antonella), but his performance easily topped the other David and Syesha.

David A. looked awkward last night. I guess that we have an understanding that "Daddy" was a big help to him during the competition. Josh, I did not hear any acapella part to the first song - which I found boring and not intimate enough. Where was the piano??? The second song was a mess. I am glad the he stepped out and picked a challenging song, but do you think he even knows what a "boo" is? Seemed a little like 17 year old singing in the mirror with a hairbrush for a microphone. It did not work for me. It felt forced and contrived -- especially when watching it. Over the radio I did not have nearly as harsh of an opinion about it. Longer was boring. Pretty but boring. Obviously David A. is the best singer, but he is not the best performer. I hope he makes it to next week. (Side note -- I love David A.'s voice on the radio because it is so distinctive.)

Syesha needs to be on Broadway Idol, not American Idol. She doesn't work for me as a radio/pop artist. While I was listening to Fever on the radio, I was thinking that this performance is probably whole lot better if you could see it and not just hear it. The other two songs were nothing special.

Going to the finale -- All of the Davids
Going home -- Syesha

Cookie Doesn't Want Us to Miss a Thing

David Cook ends the night by performing the producer's choice of "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing". Again, why are they giving Rocker David a song to sing that is covered in monterey jack! Anyhoo, here he goes. I kind of feel about this performance like I have felt about him the past two weeks . . . eh . . . it was ok. Actually the first half of the song was great . . . understated and well sung . . . and then, we hit the middle and end, and although better than the other two . . . he just can't help himself with the scream . . . kind of cracks me up.

Randy thinks it was just ok. Paula didn't love it, but thought he sang it well. Simon thinks this is one of the best songs ever written (seriously) and that David Cook won the night (seriously?) . . .

Rankings to come . . .

What did you think?

Syesha dances like a penguin?

Ms. Syesha rounds out her night by singing a random dance song from Happy Feet. When I watched this youtube clip I was quite enthused by the idea of her singing this song. Syesha is in full on performance mode again. Good performance this time, and solid vocals as usual, but not the dynamic MOMENT she needed to overtake one of the Davids.

Randy thinks it was ok. Paula thinks it was ok, but not enough to make the finals (She has been on target tonight). Simon thinks that she was solid, but ok.

Final Round: Lil David sings Dan F. ?

Final round begins with Lil David singing Dan Fogelberg and "Longer". What a strange and sappy song choice for Lil David. Why oh why do the producers want to make these kids into middle aged Vegas side shows. Anyhoo, Lil David performs the song quite nicely. As he has done over the past two weeks, Lil Bit is vocally on top of his game. A plus for me in this performance is the lack of massive runs and he did not over sing the song. Good solid performance.

Randy did not like the song, but loved the performance. Paula thought Lil Bit did a lovely job. Simon can not criticize Lil David, and thinks he sang well. . . and thinks he has done what he needs to do to make the finals.

Rocker David Dares Us To Move

The second round of personal choices ends up with Rocker David performing Switchbot's "Dare You to Move". This song is a much better choice than his original choice of Collective Soul's "World I Know". . . Here we go . . .oh . . .oh . . .he's off key . . . way off key . . . ok, now we're moving to the bigger part of the song . . . . YIKES! He's screaming! I LOVE Rocker David, but this was not good. Off key and screaming does not a good song make.

Randy thought it was just ok. Paula thought is was not his best performance. Simon thought that Round 2 was ok all around.

Round 2 was not nearly as strong as round 1. I would like to call it a tie, but yikes, Rocker David did not do well.

1. Lil David - 8 - solid vocals and points for picking a current song
2. Syesha - 7 - good vocals but a gouda filled performance
3. Rocker David - 6.5 - Yikes, it was rough for me.

Despite the above rankings, I think that round 2 was pretty much a draw.

Does Syesha Give You Fever

Syesha is next up in round 2. She has chosen "Fever" by Peggy Lee. I'm a bit concerned by this song choice. Not because I think she'll have any problem singing it, but because it has the overwhelming potential to look a little like cheese toast. Oh, I was right, she has a chair. Again, though, she looks fabulous, but she needs to be careful . . . girl's dress is a wee short . . . um . . . . the vocals are good, as always. However, the performance is dripping in velveta. For the love . . . She is setting herself up for a Broadway career, but seriously, not feeling the chair and the movements . . . and stuff.

Randy thinks she sounded good, but that it was just ok. Paula doesn't think it showed who she was as an artist. Simon says it was well sung, but very cabaret.

Round 2: Is Archie your boo?

Here comes round 2, and Lil David is up first with the only song selection from the last 12 months, Chris Brown's "With You". I love this song. L & K made a comment earlier that they would spit their margarita across the room if Lil Bit actually says the word "boo". Here we go . . . Wait, do I hear a spit take coming from Texas . . . HE SAID "BOO"! I absolutely love that he chose a contemporary song. Big risk in my book. Vocals are solid, moving is a bit awkward, but vocals are good, and overall, I think he performed well.

Randy applauds the song choice but does not necessarily think the song fits him . . . but again, thinks he could sing the phone book. Paula likes the song choice but wants him to not draw out notes on these types of songs (good critique). Simon also applauds the song choice but thinks he was a bit awkward.

Do you like this face of Cookie?

So, this is the performance about which I am most worried. I will preface this review by saying that "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" is one of my top 5 all time favorite songs. . . . just romance and making out personified . . . ok, I'm back. Simon chose this song for Rocker David to take him out of his comfort zone and thinks he will have a "moment" with it. I'm worried. Here it goes . . . oh, oh, no falsetto . . . ok, ok, NO NO NO . . . he is doing this song with the same formula as every other . . . start slow . . . slow . . . slow . . . and then get a little louder and kinda end in a scream. To be fair, this song choice was gonna be tough for Cookie no matter how he did it . . . fairly solid vocal, but I did not enjoy his particular interpretation of it. Props for doing the best with the song that he could.

Randy thought it was ok, but not his favorite. Paula thought it was good. Simon thought it was one of his best performances and pronounced round 1 for Cowell and Cook. Um . . . er . . . well, I can say this, at least Simon is consistent.

For me (using Rubbertoe's ranking system) . . .

Round 1:

1. Lil David 10 (acapella goes a long way for me)
2. Syesha 9 strong vocals particularly in the second half
3. Rocker David 8 - Good attempt, but just didn't work for me . . . no screaming, please

Syesha Ain't Got No Problems

Ms. Syesha is up next with her rendition of Alicia Keys' "If I Ain't Got You". Randy Jackson has chosen La Mercado's choice tonight. Might I just say that the girl looks fierce (see Project Runway for original fierce reference). I'm a touch worried about this song choice, but we'll see. Ok, the first half of the song was ok . . . I think she's waiting for the second half of the song where she can belt . . . and YES, belting happens and she comes alive. Her vocals are strong and onpoint. Overall, very very good, but a half step below Lil David.

Randy, of course, thinks this song choice was great and that she had a massive yo factor. Paula thought she did a great job and that girl is workin it. Simon thought the vocals were good, but wishes she had switched it up a bit.

Let the janking between Simon and Randy begin.

Top 3: Get Ready, Get Set, Holla at an Idol & Lil David Goes Acapella!

THIS is AMERican Idol! Cue the music!

Here we go, y'all! We're about to hit our Top 3 performers. Lil David, Syesha, and Rocker David. The song choices that we spoiled via IdolBlogLive are good, bad, and WTF! Without further adu, here come the judges picks!

First up, Lil David. Paula Abdul has picked Billy Joel's "So It Goes" for young David. I posted a youtube clip earlier as a preview for those of you who might not be familiar with this ditty. Sounds like a good vehicle for Lil David's talents. I'm crossing my fingers that Lil Bit won't be affected by this week's Daddygate chaos. Here we go . . . he looks cute . . . OMG! The first acapella of the season. FINALLY, I have been wanting him to go acapella all season long, and he pulls it off quite nicely. Overall, Lil David was pitch perfect on this song. Excellent start for the show, and proof that Lil David is continuing the good voice he's been in the last 2 weeks.

Randy thinks that it was dope, yo! Paula thinks it was the perfect song for his voice. Simon thinks it was predictable, but sung well . . . A side note here: For as long as the judges have been allowed to pick songs individually for the contestants, Simon ALWAYS plays down the other two and ALWAYS pimps out his choice . . . we'll see if the pattern continues.

Friendly Competition Update!

Psych! We don't know the results, but wish we did...hint, hint.
J - crunch those numbers and get us up to date, we're almost out of Idol for the season! It's so sad.

Top 3 Song Spoilers: Part, er, um Quatro . . . and stuff

DJ Slim over at Idol Blog Live is reporting early song spoilers for next week's episode. Each of the Idols flew home this week, and, as you'll recall from past seasons, during these trips is when they receive the judge's song choice. I'll update as DJ Slim does. Here's what we've got so far . . .

David Cook: Judge's Choice (Simon) The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face - Roberta Flack . . . Can I just tell you that this song is one of my top 5 all time favorites!!! I am so excited with the prospect of this performance. Could very much be an Idol Moment. David's Choice: The World I Know - Collective Soul - As opposed to Simon's choice, David's choice is pretty uninspired. Hope the producer's choice picks up the pace a bit. But still y'all . . . Roberta Flack . . . OMFG! Producers Choice: "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" - Aerosmith - Um . . . seriously . . . could this possibly be one of the most generic song choices ever! No doubt that Rocker David will do it well, but man, not looking for much of a moment are they?

Syesha Mercado: Judge's Choice (Randy) If I Ain't Got You - Alicia Keys. Oh, ugh! Randy has given her the diva song that this girl so much longs for. I'm not sure this was the wisest choice OR maybe it was chosen to sink her so we can have a David's final. . . Why not give this girl an understated song like Corrine Bailey Ray or Norah Jones as a surprise pick . . . we'll see. Syesha's Choice: "Fever" Peggy Lee. This will either go one of two ways . . . fabulous . . . or cheeeeeeeeeesie. I hope she doesn't over perform this one (see Proud Mary Top 4). If she just sings it, she might do it justice. Fabulous song. Producer's Choice "Hit Me Up" - Gia Farrell. Wasn't familiar with the title, but when I youtubed it . . . This could be a REALLY STRONG PERFORMANCE for Ms. Syesha. Has the makings for a very fun time.

Lil David - Judge's Choice (Paula) So It Goes - Billy Joel. I was not familiar with the name of this song, so I did a little Youtubage and discovered that it's pretty typical BJ fair. Very piano driven performance. Could be a BIG winner for Lil D, but, with the offstage daddy drama, I worry about his timing while tickling the ivories. Producer's Choice: - Longer - Dan Fogelberg. Very unfamiliar with this track. Will hit up the youtubage later to check it out. However, can I just ask a question . . . aside from Randy's unfortunate song choice for our resident fauxdiva . . . WHY CAN'T WE GET SONG CHOICES FROM THE LAST DECADE! Why oh why must all of these song choices draw on so much history. Personal Choice: "With You" - Chris Brown. FINALLY! FINALLY! Someone is singing a song from the past 12 months. A definite risk because everyone will be so familiar, but I'm proud of Lil Bit! For those of you, kinda like me, who don't always recognize songs from their title . . . It's the one that goes . . . "I need ya boo. I miss ya boo. Cuz there hearts all over the world tonight . . . " Y'all Know. Ok, so it will be slightly hysterical to hear Lil David sing the word "boo" but otherwise, good choice for his vocals.

Seriously, couldn't we get a little Michael Buble/Josh Grobin for Lil D . . . Possibly a little revamped Maroon Five for Rocker D . . . an, seriously, Rocker D, Collective Soul . . . really? Don't get me wrong, I like the song, but why not SOMETHING that tests him a bit. . . how bout doin a male version of some Shirley Manson and Garbage? I'm waiting with trepidation for the rest of the selections . . . what do y'all think?

More to come . . .

Entertainment Weekly is reporting an interview with Nigel Lythgoe regarding Lil David's daddy being "banished" from the Idol set. Check it out and tell us what you think.

Yahoo's Most Memorable Performance of the Idol Season

The folks over at Yahoo! have provided a list . . .seemingly ranked in no particular order of the Best Performances of the AI 7 Season. It got me thinking that after all is said and done, maybe we should do a top 10 list of the performance of this season. What do y'all think?

3000 Hits Y'all! Holla

I just checked the counter and we have surpassed 3000 hits. I think it is so cool. A little blog that we started so we could communicate cross country bout Idol shizz has some readers! That rocks! To commemorate the big 3000, I am posting a link to one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE Idol performances. Think back . . . the year was 2003 and the finale was Clay and Rueben. On the finale results show, one Ms. Kelly - I AM THE ORIGINAL AMERICAN IDOL BITCHES - Clarkson walked on stage and sang "One Voice" with the AI 2 contestants. The performance is great, but what cracks me up is how Kelly out sings the other 12 people on stage. She's like, yo, I don't know who these fools think they are and what they think they are doing, but I'm bout to show them how its done . . . word. Enjoy, and thanks for reading!

USA Today's Coaches Weigh in on the Final Three!

Our USA Today coaches have weighed in on what each of the Final 3 need to do to grace our screens in the Idol Finale Extravaganza (Insert Inspirational Music Here). Good little article. What do y'all think? Is Syesha nipping on Lil David or Rocker David's or anyone's heels? USA Today's Coaches Weigh In

Song Wishes . . . Top 3

Ok, so, all of this talk of spoilers made me start thinking of songs I wish they would/could sing for the Final Three. Seriously, y'all, this week has the possibility of the most wide open song choices . . . A few wishes from "J"

Lil David - One Voice - Elton John . . . I realize that this song has been done before on Idol. Ms. Degarmo did it in season 3 and, more notably, K Clarkson blew it out with the season 2 idols during that year's finale. However, this song could really work for Lil Bit. OR how bout Sherriff's "When I'm With You" more likely, he will pick something more like Joey McEntire's "Stay the Same". Y'all might not know it right off, but youtube it and listen . . . such a Lil David song.

Syesha - I really want to see her do something understated and show off her voice within its proper boundaries. I realize this is a foolish wish, but still . . . that being said, I would love to see her sing "Killing Me Softly". It's a big song, but not so much the diva type song that she so often leans towards. Another choice she'll never pick, but could do nicely is Norah Jones "Don't Konw Why" . . . I know, I know, she wouldn't ever do it, but, I think she has a lovely voice when it is used appropriately, and I think this song could display the subtle nuances that very likely exist.

Rocker David - I just can't think of him singing anything that is not a little edgy, but I'd really like to see him take on a hair band power ballad from the 80's . . . like, Bon Jovi's "I'll Be There For You" or Extreme's "More than Words" or Bad English's "When I See You Smile". . . I think that the only thing we haven't seen him do is really pull out the song that makes him the romantic bad boy. A side note: I think that Rocker David will either do AMAZING or TERRIBLE with "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face". What I am so worried about is that he will take the song down a blasphemous path and once again try and turn it into an emo-stalker-deathmarch. DON'T DO THAT!

What about y'all? What are your wishes for the Top 3?

Operation Emancipate David . . . OR . . . Get Thee Behind Us ArchuDad!

Another take on the AruchuDad controversy. Entertainment Weekly has done a piece on the issue which brings a bit of a different skew. I'm curious though, most of the stories are asking whether or not David will be able to sing without his Dad's assistance . . . My real wonder is whether David will be able to deal with the obvious stress that would be caused by having a family member BANNED from the set when you are in the Top 3 and are aiming for a title that would/could catapult you into superstardom. A lot of pressure without having deal with all of this without also having to deal with the ramifications of having Michael Lohan as a father!

A Little More Shizz on Lil David's Daddy

TMZ is reporting a touch more info on the story surrounding PaPa Archie gettin banned from the Idol set. This story kinda makes me sad for Lil David. It will be vewy vewy intewesting to see how he responds tomorrow night. I'd like to see him go out there and blow it out the box and show bossy daddy that his presence is neither requested nor suggested. Click the link to read today's installment.

The Cuteness on TMZ!

There's not a whole lot to this video clip, just a TMZ reporter questioning The Cuteness about Lil David's dad. True to form, The Cuteness doesn't say anything bad, but just looks kinda goofy and cute and, ahem, mellow. The other thing that stands out is just how genuinely surprised he is that this reporter is talking to him. Just seems genuinely bumfuzzled and tickled. Click the link to see the video.

Cookie's cover of Foo

Here's David Cook's acoustic version of the Foo Fighter's There Goes My Hero at his homecoming in KC this week:

Click on title for link to the video.

Here's the anthem link -SORRY

Sorry....here's the link

David sings the National Anthem at the Jazz/Laker playoff game

So....two thoughts here:

First of all...can you imagine being the Lakers/Jazz in the middle of a second round NBA playoff game...and you get second seat to AI homecoming day?

Second: David sings the anthem beautifully...can you believe that he auditioned last year and was turned down?

Syesha's homecoming

Finally....a link to Syesha's homecoming. I feel kinda bad for her...compared to what I have seen for the two David's.....there is no chance that she won't be eliminated this week. I still heart her though....you go gurl!

Do you remember him?

This is friggin hilarious!
Do you remember the guy during the auditions that Simon said should get a job with the local Nebraska FOX affiliate....guess it ain't gonna happen. This is definitely worth a look:

This is kinda funny....D'ya think that The cuteness wanted to go home?

Imagine David Archuletta

I thought that this was pretty cool!
