Top 12 Girls: “Kinda Trainwrecky”

Alright, I am on the sofa, drinking my Pressed Juicery “Roots 3” (yum!) and I am ready to watch some Idol! K says “work it Baylie”! She knows the wardrobe tricks.
First up Chelsie – she loves some fishin’, huntin’ and hangin’ with her mom. Song – Cowboy Cassanova. K says – she is also workin’ it tonight. Sounds pretty good – but overall a bit of a lackluster performance. Not sure it was a great choice for her. K agrees with JLo that she “sounded a bit nasally”.

Erika VanPelt – Not much exciting going on in her hometown or with her family. That might not bode well with voters this early – you seem to need a hook. Song- What about Love: Finally someone that the song doesn’t swallow up. Good energy and tone, powered on through that song. Cute hair tonight!

Jen Hirsch – Cali girl and family owns a winery – fun! Song: One and Only – K says ‘boob alert’ two of three. The judges obviously want her to stay. K & I are not as familiar with this Adele tune – so it was hard to know exactly what Jen did with the song.

Brielle – arghh…did not like her or her mom in the earlier part of the competition! If her mom is the ‘mom’ of the group – I feel sorry for those kids. Ugh – this performance is so affected! ‘sittin’ on the doca of the baaayyy’ VFTW will love her! How about that cheerleading move at the end of the song?! K says the judges are on crack and ‘boob alert’ 2.5 of 4 (she tried).

Hallie Day – she and her husband have a cute lil’ house back in Baltimore. Her outfit is not the most flattering – but love the hair. Song: Feelin’ Good - Best voice so far! Nice interpretation of this classic tune. I think the older audience will enjoy her – but not sure what the younger crowd will think –will they keep her in the competition?

Skylar – just muddin’ around in Mississippi! (Ridin’ around with her friend - how many Haleys are out there in the world?!) Song – Stay with me or ‘spazz’ with me!: K says ‘boob alert’ 4.5 of 6. She could probably make a country hit out of this song (didn’t know that Travis Tritt had recorded it). She has had the most energy so far, almost spazzing out on us– love the fist pump with the mic. She really wants to be here.

Baylie – that was sweet that she filmed her grandpa. Song – Amazed – little rocky start and some bum notes here and there. She can hit the power notes when she needs to – but seems to have some trouble with transitions. K says that by herself, she bumbs the boob alert to 7 out of 7.

Hollie – seems to have a nice family and what a cute dog at home! Song – Disney tune? Huge tune and Big voice for such a little girl – wow! She really powered through her nerves much better than Baylie. How about those notes! She could definitely hold her own against the boys.

Note to Idol: if you WANT a girl to win – please don’t bash all the girls and let the guys get by with softball comments!

Haley – hey, I’ve got those rainboots too! She needs them much more in Oregon, I guess. Song – Sweet Dreams: Interesting choice (love this song, but)…kinda creeped out by the eyeballs in the background. Seems a bit screechy and off key to me. K says the whole thing was creepy. Okay – kinda inappropriate comment by Steven? And we are falling behind in the boob alerts.

Shannon – nice house in Tampa. Ryan trying to start something with Steven and Shannon’s dad. Song - ? candle? I’m sure I am unpopular in this thought – but, this song and that dress are too old for a sixteen year old. I know she has a big voice, but I think they could have helped her select a more youthful approach for this early round of voting. Judges clearly love her and want her to stay – you know they would say something different if they didn’t want her in the competition. We have heard them tell younger contestants to pick youthful tunes.

Jessica Sanchez – sympathy card – vocal chord problems. Doin’ some shoppin’ with dad @ home in San Diego. Song – Love you I do - it started a bit low - but she could just be holding back since she has had vocal chord issues. Great power note! (I think this is another example of a song that is too old for the singer – we will see what the judges say…) K says valiant effort with a bum voice! Judges working hard to keep her in the competition (confidence, swagger, perfect pitch, etc.).
Just a thought at this point – on the whole, the boys were just much more entertaining last night.

Elise – beautiful beach in Charleston, SC. Family is in NJ – very sweet and supportive. Song – One and Only: the only girl to use an instrument tonight. Soulful sound - she really has the most naturally soulful voice of the girls. Emotional connection to the song – great! Cute personality – love the room service flowers in her hair. K says enjoyed almost everything about the performance except for the ridiculous hand gestures. Judges love her and want her to stay. BTW – we didn’t realize at the time that Jen had sung the same song – wow – Elise blew her out of the water.

Ones to go home: Chelsea, Brielle, Hallie, Baylie, Haley, Shannon, Jen (although we see that Brielle seems to have a strong voting block – if you are following Dial Idol).

Hey J and Rubbertoe - we can’t wait to hear what you guys are thinking about the Top 24! Looking forward to your posts!

The Top 12: Where Do Broken Idols Go? EEK and YIKES!

And we're back for another week . . . and J-Lo is bringin the Cray Cray hair . . .

This season I am purposely staying away from the song spoilers . . . I missed the days when I was surprised. :)

Here is our Top 12! WTF is up with Karen's hair - circa Madeline Kahn in Young Frankenstein?

We have songs from the year the contestants were born.

1. Naima - (1984) - She is singing "What's Love Got To Do With It" by Tina Turner. Her vocals better improve 100% from last week cuz she ain't gonna be doin any dancing this week. The beginning is VERY karaoke. The girl has a very good stage presence, but her vocals are just ok. . . very pitchy in parts. She is definitely a performer . . .btw, those background singers are not doing her any good . . . sounds like a backup track.

Steven - He thinks she did a great job
JLo - thinks she is consistently pitchy, but thinks her flava is crazy
Randy - thinks she is always under the pitch

2. Paul (1984) - Y'all know I love this boy . . . and on this blog I'm on the isle of unpopular opinion :) . . . He's singing "And I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues" by Elton John. As per usual, this performance could be great or awful. I do love this boy's stage presence, and I'm glad he is singing a more recognizable song. He is very pitchy in places, but he is working the stage. I'm not in love with this song choice for him . . . and I don't think he is doing anything to endear himself to Rubbertoe. :) I liked it, but certainly didn't love it.

JLo - She thinks he has soul and star quality that overcomes his voice issues.
Randy - Thinks he was very pitchy in the first half of the song, but thinks he is like Ray LaMontagne . . . somewhere Allison is dying
Steven - Thinks he is a cool dude in a loose mood

An aside: I originally thought that JLo was the new Paula . . . I am now definitely sure that Steven is the new Paula.

3. Thia (1995) - Good Lord, she is a youngun. She is singing "Colors of the Wind" by Vanessa Williams. Hmmmm . . . She looks beautiful. Much like last week, I think her voice is lovely, but this is boring. She just doesn't quite have the energy to "bring it" for these ballads. I think she is going back to the bottom three.

Randy - He was bored and felt like he was at a pageant somewhere.
Steven - He thinks she sang it beautifully, but wonders if it is really her
JLo - Um, did she just compare her to Adele . . . blasphemy. She wants her to push out of the box.

4. James - (1989) - He looks hot . . . just sayin . . . He is singing "I'll Be There For You" by Bon Jovi. I've got to say, this performance has the potential to be EPIC. He was born to sing the power ballads. I'm really not digging the background singers tonight. I am digging James' stage presence. Honestly, he is a little pitchy, but he is much better than the first three. However, this performance did not blow me away the way I hoped it would.

Steven - Doesn't want James to get too "poppy" on him. Love that Tyler just got bleeped for saying "shit".
JLo - She thought he was great.
Randy - Thought it was a little pitchy, but made it his own.

I think Ryan is moist like a Duncan Hines cake . . .

5. Haley - (1990) She is singing "I'm Your Baby Tonight" by Whitney Houston. This performance has the potential to be a D-I-saster. However, I give her props for trying to reverse the boring trend she started last week. OOOOOH NO! This is a truly awful beginning. Ok, she has picked it up a little bit in the middle of the song . . . but still karaoke. Haley is not making a great case for her safety. Yikesies!

JLo - Thinks she looks great (uh oh) . . . She feels like she is a bit tense and unsure.
Randy - He is a little confused by her lack of consistency in song choice.
Steven - He thought it was sweet and tough . . . and compared her to Janice Joplin . . . huh? I think Steven smoked some shake before the show tonight.

Five performances and not a stand out amongst the bunch.

6. Stefano (1989) - He is singing "If You Don't Know Me By Now" by Simply Red. I am VERY hopeful for this performance. This could be an Idol moment for Stefano . . . but I won't hold my breath. FINALLY! Ladies and Gents, we finally have a vocally superior performance. That being said, it is a boring song, but he can blow. Bum note at the end . . .

Randy - He thought it was the best performance of the night so far
Steven - He thought he had beautiful phrasing
JLo - She thought it was a beautiful performance, and that he could "take this thing".

It was a good performance, but I think they are over the top because the first five were so-so at best.

7. Pia - (1988) She is singing "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" by Whitney Houston. Celine and Whitney back to back . . . this is ballsy. This girl has superstar written all over her. She's working her perfect pitch again this week. Wow! Go girl! Ain't nothin else to say.

Steven - He thinks she took it over the top.
JLo - She loves that she did something uptempo
Randy - He thinks that every week she is bringing amazing vocals. . . I agree.

8. Scotty - (1993) - He is singing "Can I Trust You With My Heart" by Randy Travis. I will try to keep an open mind. Honestly, I think if he didn't have a bass voice he wouldn't be here. He just doesn't have any energy . . . nevertheless, he will get a recording contract. He does his thing very well, but it's not my thing. Very good vocal.

JLo - She thinks he pushed it out there.
Randy - He thinks he can sing anything, and wants him to take chances
Steven - Loved it

9. Karen - Again, she looks like Madeline Kahn after she got fucked by Frankenstein. WTF? (1989) She is singing "Love Will Lead You Back" by Taylor Dayne. I LOVE this song. It has HUGE meaning for me. I wish Pia was singing it . . . She looks like she is wearing fish scales . . . Surprisingly, her voice sounds pretty good . . . but it doesn't have the umph that this song demands. I think she has saved herself from elimination, but I still don't buy her as a performer.

Randy - Yo . . . thought is started rough, but she found herself in the middle of the song.
Steven - Loves it when she breaks into her ethnic "whatitisness"
JLo - She thought she attacked it in the middle.

10. Casey - (1991) He is singing "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana. He is taking a risk, but I think he will be ok. Um . . . I like Casey, but the beginning of this song is a little bit of awful. This is NOT good. Yikesies. Please make it stop. Wow, that was truly awful. . . and yet, I don't think it will send him to the bottom three.

Steven - He thinks he is crazy and talented. "It's the goop the good stuff is made from"
JLo - She thought he was a little screechy and screamy
Randy - Randy is pimping him by saying that he put art first rather than commerce.

That was truly awful.

11. Lauren (1994) - She is singing "I'm The Only One" by Melissa Etheridge. I LOVE this song . . . hopefully she will redeem herself from last week. A vast improvement from last week already. She sounds really good, and is definitely one of the best of the night. However, she is still a little shaky at times.

JLo - Thought she made it her own
Randy - Thought it was very nice
Steven - Thought she sang better with the sickness

12. Jacob - (1990) He is singing "Alone" by Heart. I admit up front that I don't like Jacob's nasal voice. It drives me crazy. The judges are going to love this performance, as they did last week. However, he continues to sing through his nose, and I think this is over the top awfulness. He is pitchy and all over the place . . . however, I fully expect to be on the island of unpopular opinion. HORRIBLY TERRIBLY WRETCHEDLY BAD!

Randy - Very nice performance
Steven - Thinks if the gospel had a baby they would name it Jacob Lusk
JLo - Thinks he gives himself to every performance

My ears are bleeding . . .

It's all over now...and paint it awesome!

Top 12 Rolling Stones Night!

Big Mike - Miss You - interesting take on this tune - on the fence about the appeal of his falsetto. He could easily overuse it - if he hasn't already. K says he has already gone there. Off key in parts? agree with Simon about the corny dancing

DiDi - Playing with Fire - like the arrangement a lot, but wonder if it took too long to get to the chorus..if there was a chorus? she has the right take on the song - but just kind of fell apart at the end. K suggests a DiDi drinking game: wait for her forehead vein to show - then chug. Depending on her stress level - you could get wasted quick!

Casey - It's All Over Now - LOVE it! Great bluesy - rockin' vibe, southern style. If you wandered up at an outdoor concert and heard that & saw him - you would stick around, right J?! Nothin' more to say :)

Lacey - Ruby Tuesday - weird arrangement of this song. several places where she was quite flat. Committed cardinal Idol sin by singing a song with 'goodbye' in it. Ellen had a good point about her movement in the song - perceptive!

Andrew - Gimme Shelter - voice sounds really smooth in the beginning - but such a restrained performance for this song!

Katie - Wild Horses - ended much better than it started. shaky and a bit pitchy when she started off, but once her nerves calmed down she got into the song. Good song choice for her fan base to remember her.

Tim - Under My Thumb - never thought about a reggae version of this song...not sure about how that connected with the song. He really does have a nice voice though.

Siobhan - Paint it Black - thought it was perfect! great use of the stage - truly a performance on the Idol stage. Hated her hairdo though...curly q...

Lee - Beast of Burden - made the song current, seemed a bit nervous - but I really liked it. He has a really unique sound and hopefully we will see him really find songs that help him showcase that.

Paige - Honky Tonk Woman - much better performance this week than several weeks. Not sure about the lyric changes, but I really liked the tone of her voice - maybe it was the laryngitis.

Aaron - Angie - I had been kidding around that someone should sing this...pleasantly surprised with Aaron's performance here! (Well, not the rockin-back-n-forth thing he does). His tone was so smooth and clear, I totally forgot he was OMG 16. Way to go dude! I LOVED it !!

Crystal - Can't Always get What you want - YES you can! go Crystal! Effortless and smooth, rockin' MamaSox.

When you wish upon a star...

Yay! J is the happiest gay boy in the world -AND K is the happiest straight boy in the world: we bid adieu to both Todrick and Lily! Way to go Rubbertoe for getting both guys correct - nice work on your analysis.

We remain perplexed about Alex going home and Aaron making it through...

K says there are articles starting to pop up tonight on the internet - check out MSNBC, for one - this should prove there are some Idol shenanigans afoot and that this is not 100% America's doing on this - stay tuned!

An overview and an elimination

Coming up next, we’re gonna have the judges deliberate and send someone home.
Major dramz up, peeps . . . it’s time to announce the bottom 2 . . .

Charley Jenkins and Alyson Gilbert are the bottom 2 from the judges . . . . Jeffrey voted for Charley to go home . . . John Rich wants Alyson to go home . . . so, it’s up to The Jewel . . . she’s gonna send Charley home . . .

And, he’s gonna cry. Ugh. I hate to see people go. Charley wasn't great, but I didn't think that any one of the acts was really that bad . . . BUT . . . only a couple were really several steps above the rest.

Overall, for the first show, I’m kind of impressed. The talent is good and the concept is Idol like . Next week the contestants get split into men, women, and groups and are paired with a judge. Kind of like this concept a little Idol meets the X Factor . . .

Gimme some comments, y'all . . . Did anybody watch?

The Looks Hotness and The Singing Hotness

The Hotness is up next . . . He is SOOOO cute . . . one Mr. Justin Gaston . . . gonna need to try and look beyond the cuteness . . . . Rut ro . . . there’s a very pleasant voice there but man, somebody needs to light a firecracker under his ass . . . PICK ME! PICK ME! . . . Just kidding . . . he needs to pick it up or The Hotness will not last long. The male judges didn't heart him, BUT Jewel defended him hardcore.

Mother of five, Melissa Lawson is up next . . . very Wynona Judd . . . her audition was quite good. She is singing a little Bonnie Raitt and givin up something to talk about . . . Girls got some pipes, yo. Far and away the best of the night . . . to quote Randy Jackson, “We’ve got a hot one here . . . MOLTEN HOT!”. The cute Hotness followed by The singing Hotness. Man oh man she had a good first week.

Ashlee Wants to Crinkle Your Toes and Charley Hopes You Wants Some More of It.

Side note: It will be really interesting to see who the judges eliminate because some of the ones that they have loved . . . . not so much for me.

Next up, Ashlee Hewitt singing . . . that Cobbie Callet song about crinkling your nose and toes and stuff . . . the judges are gonna love her but I’m not sold quite yet. She is a beautiful girl, and if she wasn’t, they wouldn’t love her this much . . . On a second look, she is a very pleasant singer and could have some potential. She's definitely safe tonight . . . maybe she'll grow.

Charley Jenkins is on stage next . . . good ole boy wanting to sing good ole country songs . . . daddy died and wants to make him proud. He’s singing “I like it, I love it, I want some more of it” . . . clearly a Big and Rich song cuz John Rich is grinning from ear to ear. Judges didn’t love him . . . I didn’t love him . . . A decent voice there . . . with a kind of yodel in the vibrato. The judges are very mixed on him . . . he could be very good but I'm not sure he will be given the chance.

Gabe Wows and Alyson is Miss America!

Here comes electrician Gabe Garcia. The judges thought he could be a “very important act for country music”. We add a touch more diversity with this Hispanic contestant. Singing “All my exes live in Texas” . . . . very old school country . . . . very, very good. A little old school for my personal taste, but very good at what he did. He is very today's country meets Clint Black. I kinda dug it. All the judges heart his stuff.

Next up is Alyson Gilbert from Tennessee. She definitely has a country look to her. She is studying animal science at the University of Tennessee – Martin. Lower register is kinda pitchy, but her upper register is brilliant. Her eyes are VERY WIDE when she sings. The judges kinda thought she was a bit pagenty in performance, and are worried about her tonight. I'm a little worried bout her as well. She's got some pipes there, but her stage presence just kind of makes me want to get that cheese in a can . . . you know the stuff that looks like whip cream . . . and fill my mouth til I choke . . .

Laura and Sophie with a Side of Coffey

Next up is a single dad with a single goal (credit for cheese whiz to Billy Ray Cyrus). His name is Coffey. Our one and only African-American Nashville Star. He has a very good stage presence. BUT, he’s got a much better voice in the auditions than he showed in this performance. And the judges are fighting . . . Jewel called John Rich a no singing son of a gun . . . she so wanted to say mo-fo . . . .

A little underage duo here . . . Laura and Sophie . . . singing “Stand By Your Man” by Tammy Wynette. Something a little strange about two 16 year old girls singing this song. I can see the appeal of them, but I'm not really sure that I love them. They kind of annoy me in a PLEASE MAKE THAT PIXIE RAMIELE STOP SINGING kind of way. The judges, as on Idol, are not being consistent . . . they said that they were great, but that Third Town was not marketable in today’s country because they sang Alabama . . . hmmmm . . . .Tammy Wynette vs. Alabama.

Shaun Mayer and Third Town Try Not to Develop an Achy Breaky Heart

Next up is Shaun Mayer from some place in Iowa with population 45. From the auditions, this girl looks like she could win. Let’s see what she’s singin . . . doin a country version of “Piece of My Heart” by Janice Joplin. Rut ro, yo . . . she is a wee bit nervous and singing straight through her nose. . . . and a strange arrangement. Not really sure I got this one . . . very nervous feelings seem to cause her to sing Janice Joplin in a chipmunk kind of way . . . She could be in trouble . . . and the judges think so as well.

Trio, Third Town is up next . . . they have a cute little gothy country boy in their group which makes me HEART them prior to hearing them sing . . . singing “Elvira” by Alabama. I kind of love this song. . . reminds me of being a kid. Very good harmony . . . a wee better than the girls who went first. Very, very good song choice and very very good performance. The judges are not with me here . . . they want them to pick a lead singer and a sound . . .

Pearl Heart and Sailor Tommy kick off the night!

First up, Pearl Heart. They are a trio of sisters whose parents moved them to Nashville. Very Dixie Chicks meets Wilson Phillips. Let’s see how it goes. They’re singing “Wide Open Space” by the Dixie Chicks. Nice harmony . . . a little sharp at times, but overall very lovely performance. Very good job for the trio. They were a wee bit pitchy in their upper register, but overall good job. The judges kind of heart them. I look forward to hearing them perform again.

Next up, sailor Tommy. He serves on the U.S.S Kitty Hawk. He has been wearing this sailor suit 4EVER! Please take off the sailor suit dude . . . Thank you, we’re in a normal, cute set of clothes. Very David Hernandez from American Idol (read: long sleeve shirt, vest, cute skinny tie, and jeans) He’s crooning a little “Walkin in Memphis”. He’s doin a little odd blue-grass version of this song. The boy’s got a good voice but the arrangement is weird for me. Judges loved him but want him to not oversing it. I think he's pretty safe for now.

Here comes Nashville Star, y'all!

Nashville Star

So, our Idol replacement for the summer begins. We’ll see how this goes for us here at A Little Taste of Idol. So, tonight, in our two hour premiere we are gonna take 50 and go down to a final twelve. Sounds like they are trying to repeat the Idol formula. I really hope they do well. I’m jonesing for a little idol right about now.

Here comes Billy Ray, yo . . . or should I say y’all!

They are showing us a quick and dirty of the audition process.

Overall, this group is a pretty good group of singers. We have soloists, duos, and trios all competing for the title of Nashville Star. I’m gonna say, there are some VERY good singers here, and one boy I will already label “The Hotness” . . . . whew. Not as good as the Idol singers, but a good start overall.

Velveeta Moment 1: They have, of course, included the requisite military boy (see Josh Gracin circa American Idol Season Two) who was in his sailor suit during the auditions . . . as well as tonight. We’re gonna need to get him out of the suit, pronto, y’all!

Here comes Taylor Swift to perform for us.

Ok, so, the kids are gonna perform tonight and the judges are going to eliminate one performer and then, we are going to eliminate one performer.

David Hernadez is out ...

(yes Josh, I know what you are thinking, he is now OUT in all the ways)

What a surprising first week result even though I had him in my bottom 3. I never thought that David H was going to make it to the end (or even to the to the top 6) but I thought he would do better than 1st to go.

From some of the comments I heard from my non-blogging friends (including my sister, LT) there seemed to be a huge backlash against KLC. Apparently a lot of people really hated the song. It wasn't the best, and it did have a Dolly Parton sound to it, but I was ok with the song and performance. KLC was ranked #8 on my list from Tuesday night.

My theory for why she stayed is that folks don't like it when Paula and Randy CLEARLY go after someone when they are so generous with comments to other people with bad or mediocre performances. Lots of folks like country music and even though I was not a HUGE fan of the song (READ: I am not downloading it to my I-pod), she is the only country artist in the show. Combine all of that with David H's semi-scandal and I think that equaled an early exit for David H.

I am sure the KLC will be first or second in the order next week as the AI machine tries to eliminate her quickly. She will need a great performance to hang in for another week or 2 so she can make the tour.

My early prediction for next week ... One of the girls will go for sure.

Top 12! The Results Show!

Hey Y'all! It's time to vote someone off the island . . .er . . .wrong reality show. . . Anyway, we're about to go from 12 to 11. . . in about 58 minutes.

Ok, here we go. The first results show of the Main Event – The Top 12. And, hmmm, let’s see . . . what movie is the Idol Machine plugging tonight . . . ahhh, the Horton hoo movie thingy.

We had 29 million votes last night. . . seems a little low to me, but maybe it’s on par with previous years. Our judges have been introduced, and my only comment is . . . where did Paula find the Star Trek memorabilia store that clearly provided her with that jacket. Ugh, Jim Carrey . . . Um, excuse me, they are doing another round of the Lennon/McCartney song book next week?!? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed some of the performances . . . but they only had 25 to choose from to begin with . . . 12 are gone . . . so, the 11 remaining contestant only have 13 songs to choose from . . . Hmmmm . . . surely that’s not right.

Oh, here we go . . . the obligatory group number. A Beatles medley of sorts . . . no, I guess it actually was a Beatles Medley. Anyway, everyone is doing fairly well . . . Amanda kind of cracks me up with her melodic screeching . . . And Little David A. seems to have recovered tonight. He sounds MUCH BETTER! And he looks really cute with his doubled up polos . . . and . . . we go to commercial.

After the retrospective, we go to the folks sitting on the couch. Here we go . . . Carly, Michael, Jason, and Syesha were asked to stand up . . . this is different . . . they’re trying to throw us here . . . Carly is SAFE! As she should be. Michael Johns is SAFE . . . and excited! Jason Castro . . . I just giggled . . . HE IS SAFE . . . HOLLA! Syesha . . . we all thought she should be in the bottom 3 . . . And she is! I don’t mean to sound excited, but it’s nice to be right. Per our contest, we each get one point! Oh for the love of Brian Dunkleman, why are they making her sing. I really don’t love this part . . . it makes me quite uncomfortable . . . you know, like when you go to the pharmacy to buy (insert personal product name here) and there are, let’s say, eleventy thousand people in line watching you pick it out. Thank goodness she is done.

And we’re back, with what would appear to be our yearly take on the Ford Focus ad. . . . “They are going the distance”. We’re back on the couch, and there is Ryan and is skinny tie . . . circa 1985 . . . I’m sorry, did Ryan just say that “Idol has touched these contestants in lots of different ways”? . . . um . . . anyway . . .The contestants are now telling us exactly how and in what way “Idol has touched them”. Oh, and Amanda just met the lead singer of REO Speedwagon . . . oh, sorry, cue the music . . . Chekezie, Amanda, Kristy Lee, and David Cook are asked to stand . . . Ryan asks Chekezie to come down and join him, and take a seat . . . He is SAFE! Amanda is next . . . and she is SAFE! David Cook and is cute hat . . . get to have a seat . . . They are SAFE . . . rut ro for Kristy Lee . . . she has already asked for her microphone to sing . . . we’ll see if they’re doing one per group . . . she is indeed in the bottom three. It looks like three of our five voters were more in tune with America than we were. NONE OF US got that one right . . .Oh well, And, there goes Kristy Lee singing in that very wide legged stance . . . and there’s Sanjya . . . no pony hawk unfortunately . . . and she’s done. I’m unclear on Simon’s comment about Kristy Lee being “sarcastic” about country last night. I must have missed that one.
And we’re back . . . and apparently, taking calls . . .I’m unclear . . . And Paige wants to know which AI judge Jason Castro wants to be . . . ok . . . and he’s the most unlike Paula . . . and he wants to be a hybrid . . . ok . . . this is weird. Ronnie has auditioned six times, and wants advice from the judges . . . insert snarky Simon comment. Oh sweet goodness, this calling in thing is an unfortunate time filler. And something about Simon and Ryan mud wrestling . . .

And, back to the music . . . David Foster with the return of the McPheever . . . mercy this girl is beautiful. Wow, she sounds great. I forget what a beautiful voice this girl has . . . Wow! Oh, I’m so glad she and the DF are working together. Should be a great CD.

And we’re back . . . Jim Carrey blah blah . . . here come the last 4 . . . Lil David, Brooke, David H., and Ramiele. Lil David is up . . . and, of course, our lil teddy bear is SAFE. Brooke is up . . . I heart her . . . she is SAFE. Ok, it’s down to David H. and Ramiele . . . both of whom were in all of our bottom 3’s. Looks like we’re all about to get another point and one was replaced by Kristy Lee Cook. Oh sweet goodness, Ramiele is SAFE. WHAT? Did they hear her version of “In My Life”. WTF? Ugh! Voters, get it together. Don’t get me wrong DHern was just short of hideous last night, but seriously! Oh well, looks like we will all get two points . . . boo hiss . . . oh yeah, DHern is singing . . . and stuff.

Here we go. Did America get it right? Randy says probably . . . maybe. Paula says she has never seen a “more stronger” bottom three. . . er . . . um . . . anyway . . . Simon and Paula think this bottom three is right. Syesha is sent back to the couches . . . surprisingly. Kristy Lee and DHern . . . and . . . O MA GA!
Again, he was just this side of horrendous, but seriously y’all, he should NOT be going home. . . .not with the Syesha/Ramiele combo from last night. Oh well, this is American Idol!

You’ve now read my VERY long post. What do y’all think? Let us know . . .
