Laura and Sophie with a Side of Coffey

Next up is a single dad with a single goal (credit for cheese whiz to Billy Ray Cyrus). His name is Coffey. Our one and only African-American Nashville Star. He has a very good stage presence. BUT, he’s got a much better voice in the auditions than he showed in this performance. And the judges are fighting . . . Jewel called John Rich a no singing son of a gun . . . she so wanted to say mo-fo . . . .

A little underage duo here . . . Laura and Sophie . . . singing “Stand By Your Man” by Tammy Wynette. Something a little strange about two 16 year old girls singing this song. I can see the appeal of them, but I'm not really sure that I love them. They kind of annoy me in a PLEASE MAKE THAT PIXIE RAMIELE STOP SINGING kind of way. The judges, as on Idol, are not being consistent . . . they said that they were great, but that Third Town was not marketable in today’s country because they sang Alabama . . . hmmmm . . . .Tammy Wynette vs. Alabama.

Thought the same thing on the lil' ones singing about standing by their man.....kind of ewwww! I would like to hear them sing something else - just see some more range?

Coffey - much agreement there - he sang sooo much better in the auditions! I do think he has the stage appeal -and could do well, if he can find his voice.

When it was announced that they were going to perform STAND BY YOUR MAN, I said, "Oh no. They're gonna murder that song". After just a few seconds, I sat up and took notice. I quickly converted to "Man!, Those gals are GOOD!!!!" Loved it!!! Can't wait for more.

I have NO idea what you are thinking, but these girls can SING...They were brilliant, possibly the best of the entire night! I don't see where you're coming from AT ALL. Sure, it might not have been the best song choice for them, but they pulled it off, and started the season as one of the top contestants. Congrats Girls, can't wait to see more!!!

I've never missed an American Idol show, but this was my first time watching NS. My 87-yr old mother & I watched, and we were so impressed with Sophie & Laura. Sweet, innocent, wonderful harmonizing. Beautiful song, beautiful girls. Definitely the type that SHOULD be chosen as Idol shady past to be revealed -- so they'll certainly stand up to the close scrutiny by those who are looking problems! LOVED them and can't wait to hear more, more, MORE!
