Top 4: Will the Idols Shape and Inspire?

DJ Slim over at Idol Blog Live is reporting that the theme for the Top 4 is, "Songs that Shaped/Inspired Rock and Roll. You can check out the list of 500 possible song choices here. I'd like for all the bloggers at A Little Taste to check the list and see what you think/ what you'd like our Top 4 Idols to sing.

Here's what I would like to see:

Castro - Ramblin' man or "With a little help from my friends

Syesha -"Girls just wanna have fun"...(perfect being the only girl left). But I totally expect her to do Proud Mary (ala Tina Turner...rather than the CCR version)

Cook - The times they are a changin or Hotel California (white Rabbit would be a good choice as well)

Archuletta - Rapper's Delight....(just kidding...I can't believe that's on there...I used to love that song as a kid "Have you ever went over a friend's house to eat and the food just ain't no good? I mean the macoroni's soggy, the peas are mushed and the chicken tastes like wood!)
Seriously though...I would love to hear "Bridge over troubled water" and "Suspicious minds"...even though they are Idol favorites on the verge of cliches.

Gotta run to court....but I think someone should start a new thread picking the worst possible song choices for each contestant. I would gladly participate when I get a chance during the lunch break!

Here are my predictions and preferences:

Castro: How about some Otis Redding sittin on the the dock of the bay. Especially if he the boy can whistle! but Joshua can only hope that Castro chooses J's most favorit song in the world -- Brown Eyed Girl.

Syesha: I think robert is right on with his proud mary choice, but I would not be suprised to see her look for a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

David Cook: So many to choose from. how about some REM Losing my religion or the "House of the Rising Sun". I also like R's Times they are a changing.

Little David: I would really like to see little David do a little U2 - Still haven't found what I'm looking for.

J-zizzle -- where are your picks?

Here's what we would like to see for the show:

David C:
After Midnight
Maybe I'm Amazed

David A:
California Girls (don't you think all the groupies up front would love that?)
Hello Mary Lou - not a message song, but I am sure he could do a good job with it. I have a hard time picking stuff for him - PLEASE don't let him do This Land is Your Land!

Syesha:
Somethin' to Talk about
Let's stay together

Jason C:
God Only Knows
Your Song

Syesha - Something to talk about?

There is no way that she could top Sanjaya's version....that would be like Lakeisha doing "Jesus take the wheel"...or ....like Syesha doing "Believe".....!!!

How could we forget the Sanjayafication of "Something to Talk About" (what was Kurtz' last line in Heart of Darkness? "The horror...")?
So as an alternative, for Syesha we'd like to propose the Ronnettes' classic "Be My Baby"

Sorry about the late picks, yo! I've been doin a little NOLA this weekend. Not quite as easy for some of them as I thought it might be with this many choices . . .

Syesha – Proud Mary - like Rubbertoe, I think the Tina version
Go Your Own Way - I know this is a weird choice, but Wilson Phillips does a REALLY slowed down version that I think she could be quite good with
Love to Love You Baby - THIS is the song she won't do but I think she could really make a little magic with . . .

David Cook – Too Many To Count . . .
Love Potion Number 9
Hungry Like the Wolf
Hotel California
Nights in White Satin
Jeremy - My Personal Choice because performing this song correctly would prove what most already know that he is the real deal. Tough song to sing convincingly, but would love to see him take a turn with it.

Lil David –
I heard it through the grapevine; Stand by Me;
I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For
Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher -I'm a little torn here between the latter 2. I think Lil David could handle U2 very nicely. However, I need this boy to infuse some soul into his performances, and I think he could rock this song and make another moment for himself.

The Cuteness –
Losing My Religion; Brown Eyed Girl

Allison is correct I would LOVE for The Cuteness to sing Brown Eyed Girl :) HOWEVER, what I think could bring the house down is an inspired rendition of "Love Me Tender" . . . could very much invision myself melting into a pool of mushy goo . . .

:)
